Happy Tuesday, Friends! I am excited to share with you today my Pattern Play quilt that is featured in QUILT‘s latest June/July 2013 issue.
This quilt was a most fun quilt to make.
The fabrics used (Mediterranean Dream by Quilting Treasures) invoke the feel of Mediterranean mosaic tile floors, but with a more contemporary interpretation in the colors.
This is one of my favorite shots because the shade of the new tender spring grass in the background matches the greens in the quilt perfectly.
And of course, none of my designs seem complete unless they have tiny pieces, or in this case, narrow sashings, ha! I am telling you, I have a disease!! That green sashing is 1/4″ wide.
Quilting was done with Aurifil Mako 50 Cotton threads, over Hobbs Tuscany Silk batting. The motif is an allover swirly flower motif that is an embellishment of my swirly vine motif. I have posted about the schematic of the motif here.
Hopefully, you can sort of see how the motif plays out on the quilt in this next photo.
I also made three accompanying pillows for the photo shoot. The pattern of that front pillow is available for download on QUILT’s website here.

You might recall I had also designed another quilt using the same fabrics for Quilting Treasures where the pattern instructions are available for free download. Click here for details.
Thanks for stopping by. Here is to a lovely rest of the week! Hugs to you all.

Lovely, lovely! I like the way it looks on the fence!
Lovely quilt and quilting. Great colors!
Oohhh!! I’m still in love with those colors. A lot of my summer wardrobe is made up of that color scheme. I will be looking for the magazine on the rack in the grocery store. The quilting is beautiful, Wendy. I am going to study it closely. Thanks for sharing.
Wow (again)! The quilt and pillows are absolutely gorgeous!
That stitching is one of my faves! It gives such a ‘soft’ feel to the finish. Your execution is such a grand example of what can be accomplished when FMQ on a DSM!!!! A side note: does 96F qualify as Spring or Summer??? We were thankful for the breeze….it only felt like 94!!!! LOL! Hugs, SSAB!!
I love it!
Outstanding quilt, Wendy! The colors, especially the turquoise, are totally electric. Lovely way to combine the Irish Chain and the Shoo-fly. And of course, the quilting is sweet and swirly.
These fabric manufacturer’s need to buy you one of those nice sit down long arm machines for all the work you do. Your quilting is just amazing!
Love the color scheme!! Can you tell me, is the binding striped fabric cut on the bias? The binding is really striking!!
You are astonishingly prolific. I just love this quilt. Will definitely have to make this one. You are amazing.
I like the overall quilting design you did!! 2 more blocks to go on my latest.
I love it. I love the colors, design and quilting. I especially like the outer border.
Smiling about your continuing to use such small pieces. :-) They do look nice though I am sure they’re tedious.
How can I get a copy of this pattern. I tried to get a back issue, but have had no response as of yet…
Hi Linda,
Unfortunately, QUILT is no longer as far as I know. I think your best bet is to try to find the issue on Ebay. I have recommended that venue to my readers, and they have good luck finding back issues on ebay.
Hope this helps.
