Quite a few of you have written to tell me you saw my Attention to Detail table runner in the current (June 2011) issue of American Patchwork & Quilting. Some wondered why I hadn’t posted about it on the blog.
Well, the reason is that my little tablerunner is late returning to me. It had tagged along American Patchwork & Quilting staff and done some traveling to quilt guild meeting(s?) since the publish of the magazine.
It’s back with me now! Got it yesterday. Being featured in American Patchwork & Quilting is another first for me. So I am super excited about it.
You can see the applique is poofed up from being quilted over Hobbs Tuscany Wool batting. For the actual quilting, I used YLI 100 silk instead of my usual Aurifil Mako 50 Cotton to give the overall quilting a finer look. The fabrics are a combination of Anything but the Kitchen Sink, Jinny Beyer Palette, and Pindots – all by RJR.
Taking a little detour here… These butter leaf cookies are the STUFF! I had picked up a box of the cookies at the store because they were on sale. Now, I wish I had picked up ten boxes instead of one. They taste a lot like the Danish cookies I used to love when I was a child, except they are much richer !!!
Back to quilting, the magazine showed my quilting schematic on one of the pages. Take a look for ideas if you have trouble deciding what to quilt on a block like the one featured in the project.

Congratulations on the article in APQ. The table runner looks gorgeous and the magazine layout looks good too. Love your photos as well. I will have to wait a week or so for the mag to arrive here. How exciting!!
Love the runner AND the cookies, but “runners” arn’t fattening so I will try not to think about the cookies.

Well, i have got to go purchase this magazine!!!! I love the gorgeous table runner. This will be on my TO DO LIST! IT seems like it gets longer and I get slower. Thanks so much for sharing all the wonderful quiltings that you do. Blessings and I hope you are getting rest at night instead of burning the midnight oil.

Wendy you have done it again with a sweet feminine quilt/runner. What is it about quilting, tea parties and lovely china? I’ve noticed a lot of quilters who love all these things. Maybe it’s the throw back to more gentle lovely times.
You know how much I love tea parties and beautiful china, so your photos with the table all laid out for a tea party really appealed to me. I love your Royal Albert Lady Caryle tea set [yes siree I knows my china patterns!!!] on top of your beautiful runner, so darling. What a picture it poises. All you need is for the quests to arrive!

Hi Wendy, Here we are in 2014 and I just discovered your website and saw this lovely table runner that looked so familiar. Turns out I loved it in the magazine three years ago and had it in my UFO pile just waiting to be quilted. Many of my projects get just that far and then sit idle, due to lack of confidence in my quilting skills. Fast forward, I now have a longarm and am learning to use it. My Attention to Detail table runner is loaded and stitched in the ditch. My next step is following your quilting diagram to the best of my ability. I’m also looking forward to studying your free motion tutorials. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your talent. Sorry for such a long comment!
