Before I proceed with today’s post, I have been asked about this quilt I posted in yesterday’s post. The quilt is called Gwendolyn Dream Garden. It is a pattern found in my book Creative New Quilts & Projects using Precuts or Stash. You can view all the projects in the book here. Gwendolyn’s Dream Garden is named for Miss Baby. She fell in love with the quilt when she saw it, and told me it reminded her of a flower garden.
Speaking of the girl, this summer has been a stitching summer for Miss Baby! The last time you saw her completed stitched project was a few months ago… I shared about her stitched ornament. You can read more about it here.
From the stitched ornament to this…. a full-sized sampler! And she is quite a determined stitcher too – because she is having a contest with my sister (who is stitching the same thing) to see who finishes first. They are stitching ABC des Maisons by Prive Jardin. You can purchase the chart here. That’s how it’s supposed to look when it’s finished.
AND…. this is Miss Baby’s latest progres. And she is intent on changing the colors to suit her taste. *rolling my eyes here* Let’s just say sometimes I wish my little one would just stay inside the box, and not try to think too much outside of the box, hahaha!
Have I ever told you I have always wanted a daughter? And I am thankful to God He gave me one. I have enjoyed my little girl. I missed those baby/toddler days for sure, but I have also enjoyed the more grown up version these days. I did a double-take the two days ago when she said to me out of the blue, “Mom, I think you are the best Mom I have ever sampled. I think I am going to keep you.” What?! Sampled?!
Thanks for stopping by. I have more work to do still… Hugs to you all till next time.
Another post that touches my heart💞

What I great job she is doing. I love the colors. I bet she wins the contest. I am so impressed Miss Baby. : )
WOW congrats Miss Baby! You do a super job! Mom, you must be very proud of her. No daughter for me but I do have a granddaughter. Love the sampler. And her comments? Too funny!
The quilt is lovely and it does look like a flower garden.
I must say that you needed a little girl with all of the beautiful work you do. I hope she continues in her needlework journey as her piece is just perfect – even her choice of colors!!! I see many happy years of stitching together ahead for you two.
I like how Miss Baby’s own color choices all coordinate in hue and intensity with one another. She obviously inherited a creative eye for color!! You will not keep this girl inside the box, Wendy!
Miss Baby’s work is absolutely stunning. I love what she is working on. Her creativity with colors is inspiring.
Wendy, why would you want to stifle Miss Baby’s creativity? Not only are her colors terrific, but her stitches are divine!
I love that you share Miss Baby with us. I’ve always wanted a daughter, too. I have a great son, but wanted a girl, too. I’m glad you share G’s adventures. She’s so smart and funny. Hugs!
I wonder how many mothers Miss Baby has sampled–so funny!!! What a treasure you have in her!!! So creative for her to already be thinking outside the box and making her sampler HERS rather than just copying the instructions and colors. Way to go, Missy!!!
This is such a cute story! Thank you for sharing.
Love Gwendolyn’s Dream Garden, my kind of quilt.😉 The sampler is on its way to being another award winner. I love that Miss Baby is using her creative juices, making it her own. Really like “her” colors. She does amazing stitching……. Very impressive!!!
Thanks for sharing, Wendy. That was so special and I remember when I first came on this site, you talking about her — I felt your love for her.
I am totally with your daughter. I always use my own colours. I have hundreds of threads and refuse to buy the colours that charts say. I like colour charts for that reason – I can make a pretty good guess at colours. Actually I like her colours better. They are more cheerful. Well done young Gwendoline.
I have two boys (both grown up now) so no stitching companions for me. However they do encourage my creative side. They are sendi g me on a mosaic making course for my birthday!!!
Enjoyed today’s notes and photos while having coffee! All of it was eye candy and fun to read.
I am glad that you have been “sampled”. For a child her work is stunning.
They are wonderful! Such superb stitching too!
I’d say Miss Baby Gwendolyn is “cut from the same cloth as her mother”!!! And as for thinking outside the box—I’d say she comes by it honestly…lol. Really, Wendy….you are such an inspiration—it’s only natural that you would inspire her too! I have three daughters and although there are still times when I miss their tiny hands in mine, they have grown into three beautiful women and in addition to that exquisite mother/daughter bond I have found in them three wonderul, true and honest friends. We are both blessed beyond measure.
Miss Baby’s stitching is impressive! I love her colors. As one out of the box creator to another(Miss Baby), I say go for it! Wendy your quilt is lovely. Beautiful blocks and wonderful colors.
I love Miss Baby’s brighter color version of the sampler. She is doing a beautiful job!
Wow, I am impressed! I love that she’s confident enough to change colors – I wasn’t til I was in my 20s! Smiling at her sampling of you – so funny what kids come up with!
Good Evening Wendy! I love Miss Baby’s stitching so bright and perfect stitches! I always wanted a daughter and was gifted one. She is now 30, has her Masters Degree in Business and has just bought her first home with her fiancé and they are planning an October wedding. They do have the tendency to grow up so quickly. She never took to any of my stitcheries she always went with sports and school related activities. Which was fine, all that matters is if they are healthy, happy and warm and fed…plus of course much more. Treasure every moment and every off the wall comment…they are masterpieces that should be stitched and framed! Thank you for sharing these magical moments you share with Miss Baby and all of her splendid stitcheries! Have a fantastic creative day Plus Miss Baby also!
I love Miss Baby’s choice of colors. She is learning so much with her projects – color choice, patience and focus. I know you are very proud.
Thank you for sharing Gwendolyns favorite quilt and her project. I love her color choices, bright and cheerful. There is an artist inside her!
Ahhh. I feel Miss Gwen is a woman after my own heart: take a pattern and make it your own!
A sampled mom…that’s great that she decided you are great. Her stitching is very nice!
