Happy 65th Anniversary to…

… Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip!

If you are an Ivory Spring regular, you would know that I am a royal watcher.  So, I am taking this day to remember the 65th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.

“The main lesson we’ve learned is that tolerance is the one central ingredient of any happy marriage. It might not be so important when things are going well but it is absolutely vital when things get difficult.” – Prince Philip, 1997

“He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim or we shall ever know.” – Queen Elizabeth II, 1997 (entire speech is found here)

  1. Those photos are mesmerizing!! I found myself looking at one, then the other, then back, again, to the first and so on…..it was difficult to stop! The expressions of caring and devotion to each other are the same in both—sigh! For DH and I, it will be 46 years come this January…….I cannot fathom THAT!!!! Where has the time gone!!!????!!!!!—-again, sigh & smile!

  2. I’ve always had certain fascination with Queen and her family. Their oldest son, Prince Charles and I are nearly the same age, he’s ten days older! I remember my mother telling me when I was little girl how popular the British sailor suit was, even here in the states. Mother said in the first few years after Charles was born, nearly every little boy was dressed like him.

  3. Yes, it is wonderful that they are celebrating 65 years together. It has to be difficult to have your life an open book at all times. It is nice to know that they have a good sense of humor.
