Have you ever made a photo quilt?

Hello Friends, I hope you have had a good week so far! The weather is quite nice over here, and I am hoping the seeds I have planted in my flower bed will amount to something.

I recently discovered a fun and REALLY quick way to make a meaningful quilt by using EQ Printable Inkjet Fabric Sheets!

So, these sheets allow you to print your photos or any artwork onto fabric before being incorporated into a quilt! It’s like printing your OWN fabrics. Think about photo calendars, photo paper weight, photo mouse pads… but QUILT edition!

I made a mini quilt, with my Song of Williamsburg quilting design printed on the fabric sheet. The sheets come in a nice size of 8 1/2″ x 11″ (like the regular printer paper). So, I easily trimmed the excess off from the vertical direction to make my quilt center block measure at 8 1/2″ square unfinished. Then, I added a quick checkerboard border to the quilt center, and a mini quilt happened!

Think of what you could do with the printable sheets —

1. Pictures of family printed as block centers, and then pieced to make a large commemorative family quilt.

2. Recipes to be printed for a potholder exchange

3. A child’s artwork for a decorative throw pillow

  1. That turned out really well. The prepared fabric sheets seem to hold the color much better than the sheets you treat on your own. They are a nice method for preserving memories onto fabric.

  2. I love photo quilts and have done several! The first ones I did, I had to cut my freezer paper into 8 1/2″ x 11″ pieces, I had to use a solution to prep my 200 count cotton fabric. But the quilts were amazing! Then they came out with the fabric sheets, omgoodness! How easy was that? I love them.

  3. I’ve done photo blocks in memory quilts for customers. The newer products work so much better and print/hold color better as well.
