Hello Everyone, I hope you are all doing well and had enjoyed your Labor Day weekend! :) I ended up spending some wonderful time at my quilting mentor’s house sewing and watching part of “Persuasion” with her.
Since I am waiting for fabrics to get started being swamped again with quilting projects, I had some down time to work on some needlework projects. I have been smocking away on my dotted Swiss (pictures will come later)…
But for now, I will show you the progress I have made on my “bears” cross-stitch:
This is from a couple of weeks ago:
This is a girly baby quilt I made using machine embroidered applique motifs on scrappily pieced background:
The bear motifs are from a collection called Alpha Bears. My favorite part is being able to use my own colors to “dress up” these girly bears in their favorite outfits!
I hope you all have a very blessed week ahead of you!! It’s always wonderful to have you stop by. Do drop me a line so that I can visit you too.
(showing you the “before the latest” picture):
Pretty soon, you will see —
1) a complete spool of fancy ribbon and some new spools of threads in the forming:
2) a growing appendage:
3) and a somewhat noticeable progress compared to the “before the latest” picture:
Compare to my goal, I have a long way to go. And to think I had thought when I started earlier this year that I would have this completed in time for this year’s county fair (which coming up in less than two weeks)!! Bwa-hahahahahaha!!! :) That was pretty naive of me, wasn’t it?
Thanks for stopping by for my work-in-progress show and tell today! I hope you have a blessed day. And remember, if you in the middle of reaching toward a big goal — baby steps will eventually get you there! :) I am stitching right along with you…
(from last week),
Now you see it even better:
With some outline stitching:
I am never a big fan of outline stitching because it feels like I am working on an area I have already worked on. But following the design and actually doing as the design says makes a whole of difference in showing forth what’s being stitched. So, I will be doing outline stitches along with the normal cross-stitches just so that I won’t be left with miles and miles of outline stitches waited to be stitched when I am done with the cross-stitch part.
I hope you enjoy your week!
Thanks to antipersonnel for awarding me:
… it is… a teddy bear! You may click here for flashback:
Actually, it is going to be a series of teddy bears!
This is a cross-stitch kit I had picked up at the store because it was on clearance. It’s a kit from Dimensions’ “Gold Collection” because it involves stitching with metallic gold threads. I decided that it looked fun enough to do. I am ever so very slowly trying to turn my sewing room into a sewing studio (that’s the term fancy designers call their work room!), and thought the finished product would look at home in a “sewing” environment! But as you can see, I have a looooong way to go, which is okay – because I am ever so very slowly trying to turn my sewing room into a sewing studio…
All this talk about bears, I would like to give a bear hug to my readers at the beginning of a new week – have a great week, everyone!
p.s. I have more updates this week – stay tuned!
