Hello Friends, I am excited I am finally able to share with you the news of a new fabric line Heads Up that is released by Quilting Treasures.  I loved this line as soon as I was shown the color card for the fabrics – the reason being I felt like these fabrics would work just as well for home dec purposes in additional to quilty creations despite them being kid-themed.  I designed two child quilts with this line… one was shown in American Quilt Retailer‘s Summer 2015 issue:

The other was shown in McCall’s Quick Quilts December 2015/January 2016 issue.  Oh look, on the opposite page is my Rows of Roses quilt. :)

Click here to view the entire fabric range.  And don’t forget to check out your local quilt shops to see if they carry these fabulous fabrics!!

Rows of Roses in McCALL’S QUICK QUILTS (December 2015/January 2016)

Hello Friends, I am happy to share with you my Row of Roses quilt today.  Row of Roses is a lap quilt that is featured in the latest issue of McCall’s Quick Quilts!  Click here to purchase the exclusive quilt kit.

I love reds, but it seems like it is not often I get to work with a predominantly pink/red quilt.  So it was quite a treat for me making Rows of Roses because I got to play with the red Indigo Rose fabrics by Verna Mosquera for Free Spirit Fabrics.  You have to check out these vintage, luscious floral fabrics if you are a floral person… the fabrics will work equally well for home decor purposes as well.

I quilted free-handed swirly plumes on the quilt, using Aurifil Mako 50 cotton thread over Hobbs Tuscany silk batting. On a quilt with such pretty prints, I generally quilt for texture so that the texture highlights the prints, instead of having the quilting take the show.  Merely my personal preference. :)

Incidentally, I also designed a bed sized quilt with the same fabrics – you may purchase the kit here, and download the pattern instructions here.

I hope you have enjoy my floral offerings today!  The profusion of flowers is the reason I like spring, and seeing this quilt again makes me rather impatient for spring to come.  But there is a season for everything… for now, I shall accept the wet, the rain, and the cold, because I get to snuggle with Miss Baby under our quilts!  Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you have a lovely rest of your week, while I get caught up with from traveling over Thanksgiving.

And I am supposed to have a quilt in the latest issue of Australian Quilters Companion (Issue 75), I think (!). Unfortunately I do not have any information.  If you do, would you pretty please email me?

Now, you know why my life has been crazy (just a little bit, haha!)… but enough about my very boring and uneventful life!  I am more interested in yours — how’s your week shaping up?  And… curious mind wants to know if you have a favorite from the quilts I have shared with you in this post.

Thank you for stopping by.  I am working a bird, swirl and star quilt that is very me — my three favorite quilty elements all appearing in one quilt! Can’t wait to be able to reveal the quilt to you!
