Tulips Quilt with Windham’s Flower Pedals

Happy Friday and Weekend, Friends!  I hope you have had a great week.   To close out this week, how about another free-to-use pattern that I had designed using Windham’s Flower Pedals fabric line?  This quilt was SO fun to design. It is also easy and quick to put together – perfect for a little girl’s bed!

High Res_Design 2a_71.5 x 84.5

The Tulips Quilt sample was displayed at Quilt Market in Houston last fall.  The fabrics are truly amazing!  You need to check with your local quilt shops to see if they are carrying the fabrics or the quilt kits!

Hello Friends, it’s Friday again! :)  I hope you have had a good week.  It’s time for me to share another free-to-use pattern — Farfalle using Windham’s Whisper fabric group.  This is my fun and a bit modern take on the traditional basket blocks.

Kudos to the Windham team for coming up with such a cute name for the design.  For the record, I am absolutely, woefully hopeless coming up with names!  So I generally leave the naming part to the companies, and they never disappoint…

Thanks for stopping by!  I want to hear from you if you are going to make Farfalle! :)  Have a great weekend, Dear Friends!

FREE PATTERN: Wish You Were Here

Hello Friends,  I am excited to share with you a free-to-use pattern today!  Wish You Were Here was a line that debuted at Houston Fall Market last year.  The picture shows the sample quilt being hung at Hoffman Fabrics’ booth at Houston last year.

IMG_1825

The fabric line features the Paris and Rome versions – where scenes of Paris and Rome are printed on the fabrics. The idea behind the quilt design was to cut up the prints and incorporate them into “stamps” — thus the stamp liked blocks sprinkle all over the quilt designs.

Here is the Rome version:

I am happy to share with you a free-to-use pattern, Star Dust, that I had designed to support Benartex‘s Brittany fabric group.  Brittany has a very Provencal look, which many of us love!

Happy Friday, Friends!  I am making baby-step progress with what I have to get done this week!  But overall it’s been a great week for my little family.  We are back to our normal routine with school, music practice etc!

I think I had mentioned to you I have been doing some design work for Windham Fabrics.  I am happy to be able to start sharing with you some of the designs that highlight the current, new and upcoming Windham lines.  First off for today, I have Big Love using Windham’s Go Big or Go Home fabric line.

This is a fun and colorful contemporary line.  I had the most fun working with the fabrics because they got me out of my usual stuffy and reserved self.  I also have an additional project done with these fabrics that I will share with you later!

Hello Friends, Happy October to you!!!  We have had rain over here for the past few days, and are expecting rain for the rest of the week as well as the weekend.  The chilly weather with the rain makes me want to just stay at home in my PJ’s, and do nothing!  But of course, I am not brave enough to do my school runs in my PJ’s…. yet!  Ha!

I am happy to share with you about Devon, another newly released line by Quilting Treasures.  I had designed the following free-to-use pattern to highlight the Devon fabrics.

#1.  So… I saw the following photo on dear friend Lynette Anderson’s Facebook page.  You remember my Making Valentines quilt that was featured in McCall’s Quilting’s March/April 2015 issue? You may click here for more pictures of quilt details.  So back to the following photo — I have gifted the quilt to Lynette earlier this year, and she now has it displayed in her house in Australia.  I am so touched. You may still purchase the exclusive kits, now on sale here.

Before I go on, I want to say I do love the cover picture — using a powder blue wheelbarrow to hold all the quilts for a glamor shot is such a brilliant idea, don’t you think? American Quilt Retailer kindly sent me their June magazine issue because they had very kindly included my upcoming book Creative Quilts and Projects in their Spring Market 2015 report.

I had the most pleasant surprise when I saw two of my designs being featured in Quilting Treasures’ ad in the same magazine issue.

p.s.  Quote of the day from the long drive home after music lesson…

Miss Baby: “Mom, I figured out a way to teach little kids to say the word perhaps.  You first teach them percent, and then you teach them to say happy.  So, Per-Hap with an at the end is perhaps.”

Brilliant – got it, kid! :)

FREE PATTERN: For the Birds

Hello Friends – this is a follow-up post to my Birdhouse Neighborhood post from yesterday. Yeap – For the Birds is another free-to-use pattern using the same Tweet As Can Be fabric collection, a newly released line by Benartex!

I designed For the Birds with tweens, teens, and college kids in mind!  I thought the contemporary and easily constructed blocks would make a fun bed quilt, especially with the “slatted” effect from cutting the same fabric within a block in different widths.

So curious mind is wondering if you have a favorite bird.  I think mine would be the cardinal! And of course, you can see a couple of cardinal projects I have done in the past here, and here.

Thanks for stopping by!
