FREE PATTERN: My Cozy Sweater

Hello Friends, I hope you have gotten a good start to another new week.  My weekend went totally not-as-planned, and now I am having to play catch up.  All that to say, I am well, alive and kicking.  I thought I would share with you before we go too late into April a couple of free-to-use patterns that were released in March.  First up, My Cozy Sweater, designed using Benartex‘s newly released collection, Palm Springs.  The Palm Springs fabrics are loud, happy, cheerful and cool.

I like the name Benartex gave the design.  My Cozy Sweater is just that.  The happening design reminds me of the sweaters some of my Engineering professors used to wear in the 90’s.  :)

Do stay tuned for when I can share with you more pictures of my Tulip Trail quilt, recently featured in The Quilter Magazine(April/May 2014), that also uses fabrics from Palm Springs.

While we are still on the subject of Benartex fabrics, I am happy to share with you my Movement in Squares and It’s Electrifying! designs made final four in Benartex’s March Madness games. :)  You have till tomorrow to vote between Movement in Squares and It’s Electrifying to usher either of the two to the final round.  Click here to vote.  I also shared more “behind the scenes” details on the designs in the same post if you are curious.

Thanks for stopping by.  I am not sure how much I will get to update my blog this week.  But please know that I do miss visiting with you all while I am working hard to push through a few things in the final stage of my “final stage” of things.  Hugs to you all.  And do tell me what’s on your plate this week…

FREE PATTERN: Everything’s Coming Up Rosey

Hello Friends!  It’s so good to have you visit again.  In the midst of this cold spell, and right about now, I am more than ready for the vegetation to come up “rosey”!  For those who are in the cold spell (again!), are you keeping yourself warm and cozy?

Everything’s Coming Up Rosey is another design I did for Benartex using their English Rosey collection.  The rosey print fabrics in this collection take on a contemporary feel in that it is more “Monet-ish”, and not as Chintz-liked as a lot of the rose print fabrics you see in the market.  Everything’s Coming Up Rosey kind of keeps up with the contemporary feel of the fabric line, and it sort of has a feel of optical illusion to it.  But if you look at it closely, it is just due to the coloring of the blocks. :)  So, no tricks, no illusion… just plain fun and simple blocks!

It’s Tuesday — and you know what that normally means (i.e., I turn into the designated chauffeur for Miss Baby).  BUT today, I am meeting up with the ladies at Mt. Vernon Chapter of Quilters Unlimited!  I am excited!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have a rosey sort of day.

These projects are designed with Tutu Cute, a newly released fabric collection by Quilting Treasures.  Do you know a little ballerina?  I am afraid we don’t have a ballerina in our family.  I have the gracefulness of a hippo, and unfortunately, that hippo gene got passed down to Miss Baby!

Do check back often as I have A LOT more patterns to share with you in the upcoming months.  Have a lovely weekend!

FREE PATTERN: Moonflower

Hello Friends,  I have emerged — sort of — from my pile of very immediate deadlines.  I was able to spend some really fun time with my little family over the weekend, and I didn’t feel guilty hitting that snooze button!  For just a little bit there, I felt weird not feeling guilty about sleeping more than 5 hours a night!

My crunch isn’t quite over, but I am tickled that it is down to a manageable level!  So I will still be working a lot this week… to start off the week, I am happy to share with you another free-to-use pattern I designed for Quilting Treasures using their newly released Moonflower fabric collection.

This is a queen-sized quilt – can you see it draped on your bed?

FREE PATTERN: Nature’s Harmony

Hello Friends, I hope you are doing well.  I am having another “less 24 hours to ship out a project” episode, so I didn’t have time to take pictures of my recently featured magazine quilts to share with you.  But I do have a new free pattern to share with you that uses flying geese units!  SO, if flying geese are your thing to do….

Design 5h_blue_high res

Design 5h_red_high res

Quilter’s Cache documents here the different ways in making flying geese units.  Which is your method of choice?

My Nature’s Harmony design uses fabrics from RJR’s Silent Harmony Collection.

Updated May 17, 2017 — Unfortunately, the pattern is no longer available for download for RJR’s website.  It was an exclusive design, and I do not have the pattern in my personal archive to share.

Thanks for stopping by.  I shall catch up with you tomorrow!

FREE PATTERN: Richard Scarry Busytown A to Z Child’s Quilt

Have you ever heard of the Busytown series by Richard Scarry?  Miss Baby absolutely adores the characters, and the hustle and bustle in Busytown.  I, the parent, am dragged often into pretend play as one of the props.

Here is another free pattern for your quilting pleasure, download-able in pdf format here.  I had designed this education quilt (one does get to learn the alphabets from the panel print) for easy construction, and as many bright and cheerful fabrics as possible were included in the design:

The fabric collection, Richard Scarry – Busytown A to Z and released by Quilting Treasures, is current.  Do a search on www.quiltshops.com to see who carries the fabrics.  Alternatively, you can conveniently purchase the kit here.

Speaking of Busytown, I will be busy running errands today.  One of them would is to bring a framed needlework piece back to the shop for them to take out a couple of wood chips that were stuck under the glass.  I had picked it up on Sunday thinking I would be able to show you the piece yesterday…. :(

FREE PATTERN DOWNLOAD: Dream Garden

Good morning, Friends!  I hope you had a good weekend.  Despite having to pull a couple of all-nighters to get a quilt completed, I was able to pack in some quality family time.

I worked with RJR a few months ago on a free-download quilt pattern featuring their Hanayume fabrics:

“Dream Garden” is the resulted pattern.  You may click here to download the pattern for free:

I love the effect of the Chevron units incorporated in the sashing between the blocks.

I always enjoy working with the wonderful folks at RJR.  I will have more projects featuring their fabrics in the upcoming months.  Curious mind wants to know if you have worked with any memorable RJR fabric lines in the past.

A is for Annabelle Pattern Download

…. and the download is FREE at RJR’s website!  You remember a few months ago, I worked on a couple of projects using RJR‘s A is for Annabelle fabric collection (by Tasha Tudor).  These projects were displayed at the 2010 Houston Quilt Market.

1.  Tea with Me – click here to download pattern!

The majority of the blocks are the rail fence blocks, with the center either left blank or appliqued.

2.  Reaching for the Stars Growth Chart – click here to download pattern!

I just love the ribbon weaving effect on the stars using two contrasting fabrics, don’t you?

I hope you have loads of fun should you decide to make these projects.  Don’t forget to send me pictures of your completed projects!

Have a lovely day!
