Hello Friends! I have another free to use pattern to share with you today, just in time to get ready for “Back to School” in a couple of months! Here is my Learning is Fun twin-sized quilt I designed for Quilting Treasures, using their Learning is Fun fabric line.
I see this quilt as a special gift to that child who is entering Kindergarten or First Grade, or for the child who is simply excited about school!

Good day, Friends! Summer often gives way to preparation for a new school year – teachers and parents alike. I thought you might like my “blackboard” quilt “Teacher’s Welcome” that is featured in the August 2010 issue of Quilter’s World:
The sample quilt has “WELCOME” appliqued on the blackboard, but you may choose to applique any words you might like to suit your classroom purposes – names of your students, class motto etc.
Here are pictures that show the quilting on the quilt:
To make it more school-lish, I quilted cursive abc’s along the sashings:
The fabrics are from “Heritage Prints”, “Flower Mart III”, and “Fossil Fern” by Benartex:
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great rest of the summer! I am off to quilting my Christmas Whirligigs Quilt – more pictures later!
Yes, we have four days till Christmas, and I have been working hard up till this point! My “Back to School” quilt to be featured in Quilter’s World next year is done!
It was a super fun project, and the quilting itself was fun too!
It will be shipped first thing in the morning and on its way to the editor’s desk. Here are a couple of shots of the back:
I also “practiced” my cursive on the borders:
Now, I can think of Christmas…. I will have a few days off to unwind, and then it will be back to work for me. I have on my queue three quilts due right at the same time in about 6 weeks! Yikes.
Have a lovely Christmas week, everyone. Take it easy!
Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a good day! How is your Christmas preparation coming along?
I have been busy working on my back to school quilt. What do you know? It’s going to be a Blackboard Quilt!!! And the teacher is welcoming her students back for another new school year!! Here you can see that she is having alphabet cutouts to check the placement for each letter:
Here, you see that Miss Teacher has finally settled on this particular placement:
I thought this quilt turned out rather cute! Alrightie, I’d better get back to working. This quilt has to go out in three days. Yikes.
