Happy Friday, Friends! I hope you have had a good week. I look forward to catching up with housework this weekend after putting in long hours for work!

Today, I am happy to announce the schedule for #thislittlelightSAL. Below is a block I made.

It took me about 3 1/2 hours to make because of all the various parts. But the good news is it is a LARGE block, and there are only 9 blocks to make for the entire quilt. I use Poinsettia Plaza fabrics by 3 Sisters for my original design.

Fabric info for Poinsettia Plaza is HERE.

You may purchase the pattern PDF HERE.

Fat Quarter Shop has the Moda “This Little Light” kits HERE! The box is simply beautiful! I always love the boxes Moda Fabrics use to package their quilt kits. In some ways, the boxes are why I want the quilt kits!

Here is the schedule — please note that they are NOT NECESSARILY weekly schedule, but the duration between each check-in dates should give you ample time to tackle the different sections of the block for an easy construction process. I will announce the assignment for each appointed date, and if you follow along, your quilt will be completed in the first week of December.

10/11 – sort fabrics & test block

10/19 – making candle units

10/29 – framing candle units

11/9 –

11/19 –

12/1 – Block & quilt assembly! DONE

OF COURSE, you may sew at your own pace because my sewalong is very informal with no demands. You may also work on the quilt any way you want! It’s never a race, and NO SIGN-UP IS NECESSARY. Mainly, I host these sew-alongs because I want to make the quilts myself!

And…..

YOU DON’T HAVE TO MAKE ALL 9 BLOCKS! One block gives you a cute mini wallhanging, or you may decide to make 3 blocks for a nice sized runner!

And then…

THERE ARE DIFFERENT COLORWAYS!!

Using Moda’s Nutmeg — fabric info HERE.

Using Moda’s Cinnamon & Cream — fabric info HERE.

Using Moda’s Belle Isle — fabric info HERE.

And that is it, my Friends! Happy Friday to you!!

  1. Wendy, As usual I am always impressed with the different colorations you show your patterns in….and it is very good for us, to see new ideas, but also to expand our experience chosing colors other than what we see on a pattern photo. I was wondering how to go about doing 1 Little Light. I am thinking….is a Layer Cake:? or a pkt. of fat eights enough to do one block? I see I would need more for the background, border and binding. I purchased the pattern, so I could do some figuring…I would like to try the Plaza Christmas fabric. So could purchase smaller amounts at a fabric store. Any suggestions?

I also saw a picture of a mitten quilt (large mittens) that was in a Annies Publication. Is that your pattern? If so, I wondered if you are selling it separately? It is so cute!

  2. Hello. I am very late to this project in fact 12 months late. I was wondering if I am able to access the sew-a-long for the This Little lights quilt. I have only just purchased it as pdf online and I am a beginner to quilting but a confident sewer. I would appreciate some guidance as I start out with my quilting project.

    Many thanks
