Good morning, Friends — we kick off our #pumppleSAL today! Complete details are HERE if you are just now finding out about the sewalong.
“A Pumpkin A Day” is my original quilt featured on the cover of Quilter’s World Autumn 2022 issue. This is a scrap friendly quilt — or you can easily use a FQ bundle that has a minimum of 15 FQs.

And then a bunch of us decided to sew this quilt together! I showed the quilt being colored in various colorways where the pumpkins become apple — thus the PUMPPLE sewalong!
Click HERE if you want to use the fabrics used to make the original quilt, as shown on the magazine cover. They are from Moda’s Late October line.

I am making my sewalong quilt using a mix of Rowan and Darling fabrics by Windham Fabrics. That way, my quilt can be used for the fall, and way into winter because the pumpkins will also double as apples.

You may purchase Rowan Fabrics or a FQ Bundle HERE.
You may purchase Darling Fabrics HERE.
FOR TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT: WE ARE TO MAKE A TEST BLOCK TODAY — IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO MAKE A TEST BLOCK JUST TO SEE HOW YOU WILL WANT TO TACKLE THE SUBSEQUENT BLOCKS IN THE QUILT.

Here is a picture of the back of the block just to show you how I pressed my seams.

And here you can see the schedule of the sewalong:
—> WE ARE HERE! 8/3 – Do a test block from start to finish! With a block that has many pieces, I always make a block from start to finish. That way, I am able to work out pressing directions and other details. Doing this will make construction of your subsequent blocks go so much faster. You may decide to keep this book, or not, toward the 20 blocks we will be making!
8/10 – Make (10) pumpkin or apple units, (9) if you are keeping your test block.
8/17 – Make another (10) pumpkin or apple units.
8/24, 8/31, 9/7, 9/14, 9/21, 9/28 – Complete (3) or (4) blocks each week until you have made (20).
10/4 – Assemble quilt top, and you will have a quilt for the FALL and/or BEYOND!
