Leaders/Enders Sewalong Part 3

Hello Friends, it’s check-in day for our Leaders/Enders Sewalong. Months ago when I was working with Marcus Fabrics to develop designs for their Aunt Grace Sew Charming fabric line, I knew I was going to make this heart quilt leaders/enders style. And I thought — why not see if some friends would like to join in for a stress-free “not-a-race” sewalong. Join in anytime!

Again, I stress — there is not really a deadline to this sewalong. You make these blocks as you are working on a main project. I use the Check-in Dates to keep myself (and hopefully you) from falling way too behind while working on my magazine (main) quilts. But life happens!

If you post your progress pictures on Instagram, please use hashtag #iloveleadersandenders so that I can follow along your quilt progress.

You may click HERE for assignments for previous check-in dates.

For today’s assignment, you should have your left section rectangles all sewn together into 56 sets.

Use sew-and-flip method to attach the 2″ background squares to the TOP RIGHT of the left section. Refer to the pattern for more details if you need to.

I press my seams open. This is what I do — I finger press the seams open, then I trim the seam allowance to 1/4″, and THEN I use the iron to set in the open seams. I use the clapper to help flatten my open seams as needed. Of course you don’t have to do it this way. Use the method that is most comfortable to you. Fat Quarter Shop has many different options. Click HERE.

So what are the projects you have been working on as your main project as you work on our heart Leaders/Enders quilt? I have several main quilt projects going on at the same time, but here are two sneak peeks I can share:

And that’s it — the next date I will check in with you is January 21, 2022! Again, this is not a race — it’s just something very easy and straightforward you can work on to break the monotony when you are working your main quilt project(s)!

Happy Piecing!

  1. Wendy. Oops. Never mind. I put it on my calendar to remind me of your Monday blogs. 🙄 and I get it on my email too. Sorry. Sometimes blogs are not emailed and then I forget to check. That’s what happens when I follow so many of you awesome quilters. 🥰 Julie
