Happy New Year & GIVEAWAY!

Hello Friends, LOOOOOONG time no chat!  Clearly I have been naughty and not nice! :( I trust that you had a blessed holiday season, and are feeling great this new year!  I shall try to update you with what’s gone on since we chatted last…

Day in Life

We went straight into Christmas mode after Thanskgiving – with Christmas programs in various forms.  My mother also got to spent the entire month of December 2017 and Christmas with my family.  It was her first winter and Christmas in America, ever!  So, we packed in quite a bit in 4 short weeks to make Christmas memorable for my Mom.

With Miss Baby being older and still VERY MUCH a Christmas girl, we had so much fun preparing and celebrating for Christmas this past year!  And she is already planning for our next Christmas!

I also worked through the holidays whenever I could so that I didn’t fall too far behind on work.  That’s why I have been silent on the blog.

NEW YEAR —

This year is already shaping up to be a busy year.

#1.  So far, I have all my work-related travel plans filled for this year.

#2.  I have also been using the month of December last year to organize the various aspects of my life.  I started cleaning out closets etc, and more importantly, pulling out unfinished projects from years past to work on them this year…. namely, I have my Spring on Bleecker Street that fell by the wayside when life became too busy.  I wonder how your Spring on Bleecker Street is coming along if you have been sewing with me…

I intend to show you progress of the various UFO’s as the year goes along!

SO — ARE YOU MAKING ANY NEW QUILTING PLANS THIS NEW YEAR?

#3.  I will also be sharing about my new book Stitching Pathways.  I received back my quilts made for the book, and I am excited to share about the quilts with you!

#4.  There are more developments that I will be sharing soon!  And I definitely look forward to sharing our quilting journey together in 2018.

Unfinished business from 2017

So, I never did announce the winner for the giveaway for these books…. I am happy to announce that Gwynette of NWA is the winner!  Gwynette – if you could email me your address, I will ship the books to you at no cost to you!!

MORE DE-STASHING FOR ME IN THE NEW YEAR!!!

I told you I have been organizing my life, and in the process of that, I am still coming up with MORE fabrics to share with you!

I currently have 3 USPS Medium Flat Rate boxes filled with —

Box 1 — mainly cream and beige print (yardages)

Box 2 — chicken prints and others (yardages)

Box 3 — usable scrap pieces for scrap quilts

If you are interested in any of these boxes, enter the giveaway by indicating which Box you would like.  PLEASE NOT THAT YOU WILL BE PAYING $16 TO COVER THE SHIPPING COST.  I will announce the winners on Friday this week so that I can fill MORE boxes.  Please don’t judge, hahahaha!  Stay tuned — I also have quilt patterns to share with you as well as I keep organizing my sewing stash.

And with that, I want to wish you all a most blessed and happy New Year!  I look forward to hearing from you!!  Hugs to you all.  If you haven’t followed me on Instagram, look me up at ivory_spring — I am more easily reached on Instagram these days.

  4. I’m so happy to hear your mother was able to spend Christmas with you and your family. I wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year, with plenty of time to enjoy and create. I’d be happy to pay for box#1 as it sounds like it could work well as blender for my travel project I’m planning this year (simple orange peel). But I’m sure whomever wins them will enjoy the and find a great way to use them. Very generous of you to share.

  9. How good to hear from you again and happy that your Mom got to come for Christmas. Miss Baby must have been very excited to show her everything.
I hope you will keep up the blog as it provides so much more information than Instagram posts which I confess I do not follow even though I do have an account (to which I’ve never posted). HI Looking forward to more information about your newest book.

  16. Hi Wendy- a Happy New Year to you and family! I, too, have taken stock of unfinished projects and have written a plan to finish them in 2018. Will be interested at the end of this year to see how well we did with sticking to the plan!

  17. Sounds like fun! I would like box 1 or two, background is always needed, but I hope for an I spy quilt this year as well.

  18. Thank you so much for the quilting books. I go back to your Thread Talk posts frequently. I love scraps, but my sweet husband would probably mail them back to you with me inside the box, too!!! I have enough fabric to last me the rest of my quilting life, so I need to get busy. Loved your “catch up” post. Gwen surely will be (is already) an accomplished needle woman. So glad your Mother was able to spend the holiday with you, although maybe bittersweet without your father. Wishing you much peace this coming year and surely some time to relax and just breathe.

  19. Happy New Year Wendy! I would be incredibly thrilled to win Box 2! I have developed this fabric love for Chickens and/or Roosters and also the same fabric love for Owls. LOL. I was happy for your family for your Christmas month with your Mother. How exciting and memorable. I look forward to the posts you share in 2018! Have a fantastic day!

  20. It’s so great that your mom got to spend a month with you at Christmas. I’m sure she enjoyed being with you and your family. Oh, I would love to be in your contest. I’ve been wanting to get away from the stark white and use other neutrals in quilts planned for 2018. Thank you for the update, it’s always great to hear from you.

  21. Happy 2018 to you and yours. I would love to win Box 1 for the light colored pieces I need for many of my quilt projects scheduled for this year! Thanks for the opportunity.

  22. Happy New Year and welcome back!! How lovely to have had a month with your mom over the holidays!! If I were to win, I would be interested in Box #2… we raised chickens when I was young and I have many fond and funny memories.

  23. I would love Box 1. I make many quilts for charity and seem to have so much blue and very little neutrals. How wonderful to have your mother there for awhile. Happy New Year to you.

  24. Happy New Year Wendy!
Good for you for getting organized!!
I would love either box 1 or 3. I was lucky enough to get 2 boxes after your last destash–loved the fabrics, but have to admit that I haven’t cut into them yet!

  26. Happy New Year Wendy!! I am so happy for all your successes! I love looking through quilt magazines and seeing your creations!! I would love box #1 – beiges! Good luck on all your future endeavors!

    Ann-Marie Picone

  27. I would love box 1 – I always buy the splashy prints and then have no neutrals! Thanks for a great blog and tips. Happy New Year!

  28. Box number 3 would be my choice or box number 3. You are so organized. Our tastes change even in fabric over time. But I never buy enough neutrals. I love to see your designs and look for them as the new magazines are released. Thanks so much for entering me in your contest. Still need to do the present quilt from last year

  29. Hi Wendy,

So glad you had a great holiday season, and I wish you all the best for this coming year.

I, as usual, am interested in your boxes. Particularly, #3 and #1. I can always use neutrals, and I love scraps.

Thank you very much for considering me!

  30. Box # 1 would be very useful but Box # 2 would be fun and a challenge. Nice to hear of your family holiday season. We spent ours with our daughter, Pastor Kimmy, in Spokane WA. Needless to say we got roped into the choir and attended 3 services in two days!

  31. Happy and Blessed New Year to you and your family, Wendy. How wonderful that you had your Mother visiting with you. I pray that the memories made will bring you all much joy each time you recall those glorious days. Please out my name in the draw for whichever box you desire. Ithank you in advance for the things you will be teaching us this year. <3

  32. A very Happy and Blessed New Year to you!! I am so glad you are back posting! How wonderful that your Mom came to visit for a whole month!! Thanks for giving us a peek at your Holiday decorating. Now it is time to get down to business and get those UFO’s done, right. I, too, am organizing and listing what needs to be done. It has been VERY cold here so lots of staying indoors. Hopefully, I am a lucky person and win Box 1!!

  33. Glad you had a good holiday season. Best wishes for the new year. I would gladly pay postage for box # 1 or #3. So very generous of you.

  34. It sounds like you had an amazing holiday. Best wishes for the coming year. I would love to add to my dwindling supply of neutrals with Box #1. Thanks for the contest.
