HAPPENINGS & FREE PATTERN: Ink & Arrow’s Zola

Happy Friday, Friends!  I hope you have been well!  My summer has gone by like a chaotic blob of blur, but my little family is doing well and keeping busy with life!  Miss Baby went to have a visit with Mrs. George Washington a couple of weeks ago at Mount Vernon for a special doll event!  You can see Mrs. Washington in the picture sharing about her childhood, and her eventual life with the great General.  You should have seen her reminiscing on how good General  (then Colonel) Washington looked in his blue velvet wedding suit!  I told my husband later that General Washington was even ahead of Elvis in the sartorial trend!

The girl in purple and the purple straw hat is mine — she was enchanted with Mrs. Washington’s stories. [Side note: that golden gown you see on the left is Mrs. Washington’s wedding dress she wore to marry Colonel Washington.]

Miss Baby is also enjoying tending to her herbs and flowers this summer, as well as working on her stitching!  She is finally onto the last row of her Maisons des ABC sampler!!!

  1. I love Miss Baby’s big hat! And her stitching sampler looks fantastic :)

Thanks for sharing another great pattern, Wendy. I’ve tucked it away into my files for future use!

  2. Oh wow!, such a wonderful opportunity for Miss Baby. How lucky that she got to meet and chat with Mrs. Washington. (Occasions like that are when you want to be the tiny fly on the wall.). Miss Baby’s cross stitch sampler is a work of art, absolutely gorgeous!!! Thanks for your pattern, Wendy. One can never miss with florals. Know that it has been a whirlwind summer for you. This soon shall pass. Remember those roses. Lots of Hugs 🤗

  3. looks like you are all having a wonderful summer so far. her hat is lovely. and her stitching is coming along nicely

  4. Miss Baby is growing up right before our very eyes! How wonderful for her to have this day with Mrs. Washington. I love seeing her photo tending her herb garden too.

  5. Miss Baby is beautiful and she is growing so nicely. I love Mount Vernon.
    Her stitching is perfect.
Thank you Wendy for your free patterns as always. So generous.

  6. That sounds like a GREAT educational and fun day. I love the photo!!! It sounds like her summer has been busy and productive. Is she learning to cook with her fresh herbs too? Her stitching is perfection – like her mother. ;-)

  7. I couldn’t leave a comment on your offer to help destash. If there are still boxes available I would be interested in one. Thank you.

  8. Missy Sheppard, it was great to see you had a nice visit with Mrs. Washington. I hope you learned a lot and enjoyed yourself. You have a green thunb with your herb garden and flower garden – is that a balloon flower? Looking at your cross stitch sampler, it looks like you have taking time to learn your stitches very well. Is that 24 Aida count cloth? I love all the colors you have used – it makes your work very beautiful. Blessings to you as you continue to learn new things. Thank your Mommy for sharing them with us.
