More Thread Journey Sightings & (Another) FREE PATTERN using Windham’s Feedsack

Happy Monday, Friends!  I hope you had a great weekend, and your week has gotten off a great start!  We pretty much chilled after having the busy week that I had last week… with LOTS of ice cream.  Yesterday was National Ice Cream Day, much welcomed by Miss Baby.  She had a total of 4 rounds of ice cream yesterday, starting from breakfast!

Last week wrapped up the construction portion of Thread Journey Quilt-Along on Aurifil’s blog. If you haven’t joined in the fun, and would still like to… there is time!  We are having a one-month break for quilters to get caught up before diving into the quilting portion of the quilt.

Click hereherehere for Parts 1-3 of the construction of the Quilt Top.  The quilt ends up finishing at approximately 54″ x 54″.  It is not too daunting a task to complete the quilt top.  Please send me pictures of your quilts so that I can share them with everyone!

Meanwhile, Miriam and Jody sent pictures of their quilt tops with the Ohio Star border.  Look at their beautiful versions – well done, Ladies!

Meanwhile, here is another Sawtooth Star quilt pattern to share with you today… It’s my Sparkler design using Windham Fabrics’ new 30′ fabrics Feedsack.  I am beginning to think something is amiss with my designing mind and Sawtooth Stars. HA!

You can purchase the kit for a limited time here.

So — are you a 30’s fabrics person?!  I actually am, and have been hoarding quite a bit for myself to recreate an antique quilt.  I just need a bit of extra time to get started in drafting the quilt block.

Thank you for stopping by.  Have a lovely rest of your week!  Hugs to you all.

  1. I’m glad you celebrated with ice cream, and Miss Baby had extra. That’s so sweet. As for 30s, yes, I have been collecting, and plan a double wedding ring quilt. I have the GO! die, so I’ll use that. I just need to decide what to use for the background. I was visiting my aunt, and she made my bed with a vintage 30s Double Irish Chain that was hand quilted (and I was in heaven) so I’m thinking of doing one with the scraps. Have a great week!

  2. I am with Miss Baby……I celebrated with lots of ice cream this weekend. We are going to have exceptionally hot weather this weekend so more ice cream is in order!!

Right now I am working on a 30’s scrappy quilt with my sewing group. But…..I still have two small suitcases with more fat quarters!!! Staying inside, eating ice cream and sewing with 30’s…..how much better does it get!!

    Have a great week, Wendy!!

  3. How did I miss National Ice Cream Day? It looks like Miss Baby picked up the slack for me. ;-)

That QAL has turned out so cute. Love your Sparkler quilt too.

  4. Oh dear, I did not know about it being National Ice Cream Day yesterday! It would not have made much difference as my husband and I were traveling from WI to TN, in the car for close to 11 hours. I am really wanting to begin “My thread Journey.” Sounds like I have a month to catch up. Yippee!! Great new sawtooth pattern, I’ll have to add it to my “to do” pile. I do love 30″s……..I’ve been collecting for years; it’s another “to do.” Have a good week, Wendy!

  5. It’s a toss-up for me between batiks and 30s prints, so I fell in love with your 30s sawtooth stars. Beautiful design!
With our dangerous heat levels here, I’ve had no choice but to stay in and work on my Thread Journey. I’m working on the outer appliqué now. This is a fun project!
