Happy Monday, Friends!  I hope you are doing well, and are enjoying your Christmas season.  I have had much fun with my family getting ready for Christmas.  Our tree is up… and Miss Baby and I are trying to finish up a couple of Christmas ornaments for this year.

I am sharing with you my In Your Corner quilt that is featured in the May page of American Patchwork & Quilting 2016 Calender.

This quilt was actually made and turned in in 2014.  It’s so good to see the quilt again after all this time, with the actual calendar.

I used Quilting Treasures‘ Petals and Matrix fabrics to make the quilt.

If you recall, I have used these fabrics quite a bit in the quilts I designed and made.  We have the Plain & Fancy BOM quilt that ran in participating quilt shops in 2014.

Then, the free-to-use pattern featuring the five different colorways within the fabric line.

And you have seen one of my all-time favorite quilts, Calico Trail, also designed and made with Petals & Matrix fabrics.  Click here to see more pictures of the quilt.

Now, back to In Your Corner… the complete instructions to make the quilt is included with the booklet that comes with the Calendar.

And it is the perfect project if you are a HST fanatic, or want to practice making HST units. :)   You will get to construct HST in three different sizes.

The asymmetrical layout of the quilt gives the traditional Lady of the Lake block a fresh look. So, I quilted random straight lines in the quilt center, and finished off with informal swirly feathers.  The thread I used is Aurifil Mako 50 cotton over Hobbs Tuscany silk batting — this combination works for me EVERY time!

Click here to purchase the calendar, and my quilt In Your Corner will greet you personally in May 2016!  I hope you have enjoyed In Your Corner as much as I had enjoyed designing and making it!!  Have a lovely week, Dear Friends!

  1. In Your Corner is lovely but I have to say that Calico Trail might just be my all-time favorite quilt of yours. I love the effect of that pattern and you executed it beautifully with your selections!

    • Funny thing I thought I knew what I was talking about before reading your blog but it turns out I am a dummy. Well, I have finished a long list. How many people could possibly believe in that sort of thing? This points provided me some super useful stuff. Any group would besuper happy to have you on it.

  2. Just a little note to let you know that I’m still working on Plain and Fancy. I’m working on the sashing blocks and it’s up next on my UFO list. It got sidelined because I needed to quilt 3 queen-sized quilts first. Thanks for your FMQ classes. They really helped me!

  3. Dearest Wendy, I loved this post (all of your posts). I will be teaching one of my daughters
how to quilt when we find the time. Yesterday I saw your attractive table runner in a Pre-Cut magazine called Quilting Quickly from Fons & Porter’s. They showed your “Square Peg Round Hole Table Runner”. Easy Peasy for a beginner. It was shown on page 74! The book is on display until July 11, 2016. Everything you design is always eye candy! You are a generous special person who shares your craft with the world! Thank You.
