Rising Stars, COVER QUILT, in THE QUILTER (August/September 2013)

Hi Friends, I am really excited to share about my Rising Stars quilt making the cover of The Quilter‘s August/September 2013 issue.  I do apologize ahead of time for the pictures being a little dark.  We have had many an overcast day of late for me to have a good photo shoot.

I used the traditional Sawtooth Star block and its variations in the design.  It was fun playing with the placement of the blocks to come up with the final layout.

And of course, you might recall the fabrics I used for Rising Stars are the muted and more romantic colorway of RJR‘s Claridge Manor collection.  I had asked you which colorway had grabbed your attention in this post.

With all the white in the design, you could probably guess how I would quilt it… Quilting was done with Aurifil Mako 50 Cotton thread over Hobbs Tuscany Silk batting.  I used a beige thread to quilt on the white area.

Here you can see what the back of the quilt looks like.

For those who are in love with the other colorway, I have got you covered, somehwat.  I am showing you the design in the other colorway.  The only thing I regret is that due to severe time constraint, I am not able to calculate the yardages for you.

I hope you have enjoyed the second of my three quilts made with RJR’s Claridge Manor.  If you have missed the first one, you may click here for more information.

  1. The dimension you added to a block we are all so familiar with has taken it to stellar level!! You have, once again, set that bar wa-a-a-ay up there. Well done and then some;-b Will definitely seek out that issue. Hugs, SSAB

  2. Oh Wow!!! This quilt is a Winner in every aspect. Fabrics are gorgeous, pattern is perfect, and the quilting is spectacular. Congratulations on being a “Cover Girl.” Thanks for your continued inspiration. Oh, and the back is beautiful too!!

  3. Wendy you have outdone yourself once again! I am in love with the colors, design and the quilting is to swoon over! Oh my! Congratulations on grabbing center stage too! Thanks for inspiring!

  4. What I can’t get over, is how regular your quilting is. How do you get the feathers to fit so evenly? It looks stunning.
