End of summer…

Hello Friends, I have been spending the last couple of days catching up with work after taking Miss Baby to a pre-preschool bash!  I can’t believe summer is just about over.

Miss Baby was wearing the smocked bishop (lovingly constructed by dear friend Annelle) I had shared about here and here:

So what’s going on at your “summer” end?  Thanks for stopping by.  Hugs and blessings to you and yours.

  1. The smocking is so pretty. I just love seeing little girls in smocked dresses.

Look at all of the beautiful flowers too. Wow! Can’t we keep summer a bit longer?

  2. Oh the dress looks lovely on her! she is adorable in this beautiful garden.
The area looks a lot like Williamsburg, Virginia with the brick walkways and the lush greenery and flowers in neat gardens!
    This summer flew by.
Pre-school is a big step. Best wishes for an exciting school year!

  3. Your little girl looks precious in the smocked dress. I just love all the beautiful flowers, GREENERY, and I do not see all of those flowers in bloom in our desert. Although all cacti blooms it is just a different landscaping. I miss the greenery from KY plus the rain which we never get much in NM. Thanks for sharing and hope the little one has a great pre-school yr. Those certainly are exciting days. Have a blessed weekend.

  4. Oh Miss Baby is adorable in that dress. Goes so well with her pretty black hair too. Getting hot here again so staying in to sew.

  5. The flowers and landscape are so pretty and Miss Baby is absolutely darling in her smocked dress. What a fun school year she will have! Blessings!

  6. Miss Baby’s dress is so beautiful — the smocking is so well done and pink is my favourite colour. My end of summer days are full. Two of my grandson’s come for a week tomorrow, David is 5 and Zachary is 2. I am very excited — a few months ago they moved 150 miles away from me, so I don’t get to see them very much. And I want to get my sewing room organized again, my scrapbooking room organized and get caught up on my Quilt of the Month project. I am sure it will all take me well into September. Enjoy what is left of summer.

  7. Yes, I can see that the summer is winding to its end in your area, too. Sweet photos! Late summer fog each morning reminds me/us of this fact. It is still ‘0’ visibility at this mid-morning hour!! My bridal sewing/alterations are out the door and now it’s back to the quilting! Prepping for the trunk show/demo in the Black Hills on Sept 14th…..major FUN!!! DH is working on the East Coast itinerary as I write this. Color me excited!! Soon, dear SSAB! Hugs……..

  8. Hi Wendy,

Smocking is beautiful. It is something that I have never attempted. Seeing yours I’m tempted.

School already? Four of my eight school-age grandchildren have already gone back. The other four will start the day after Labor Day.

My end of summer plans are to begin packing up our home of 44 years. We are selling our CA home and relocating to TN. It has been a tough decision as we still have to sons, their wives, and four grandchildren in CA. We’ve pondered, agonized, and cried, but we have decided that this is best for us at this stage of our lives. All of the rest of my family are in MI, WI, and TN. My parents moved our small family to CA when I was three, leaving all behind in MI. It will be a whole new life-style for my husband and myself. There is a quilt guild and a quilt store in town for me. Hooray !! and a requirement to moving. We are moving to a new home, yet to be built, with a large bonus room that will become my sewing room. It is scary, sad, and exciting all at the same time. We will move after the first of the year…..I need to finalize some things in CA. It will be very sad to be moving away from SewVac, my store where I teach. Oh well, life marches on.

We had a great family reunion, along with visiting with our daughters and their families. Got home yesterday…hit the ground running.

All for now…..love the pictures of Gwendolyn. She is so photogenic!!!

    Love n Hugs,
