Fabric Preview: Just call me…

… Gandalf-ette the Gray for now!  I couldn’t help but laughing out loud when I opened a package from Benartex and saw the fabrics for my next quilt.  Those of you who have followed my blog in the last few weeks are rolling your eyes right about now…. “MORE GRAY” is what just flashed through your mind, ha!

Please believe me – I so didn’t plan this.  I wasn’t on a gray crusade or anything of that nature when I designed my recent quilts.  Anyhow, this new round of fabrics are from Benartex’s Urbana Oasis collection.  You may have already seen the free-to-use pattern I did (Silver Lining) for Benartex using the same collection.  If you haven’t, click here for more information on where to download the pattern.

  1. I really like these colour combos…..I especially like the aqua…can’t wait to see what creation you come up with…..

  2. The grey and red are beautiful and I thought they’d be my first choice of combos, but I love this new combo you’ve received. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!

  3. That most recent combo is at the top of the choices for sure but I really like all of them. We, here, have been sayin’ that gray is the “new white” these days. It’s a ‘neutral’ that blends w/o ‘glare’. It can give both a ‘sharp’ and ‘softened’ appearance to pieced patterns using it as background. Whatever you design, and then quilt, will be stunning, I’m confident!! Hugs, SSAB

  4. Well, I have never been a gray person but I have to admit I like the gray and green. I can’t wait to see what you do with these new colors. Most exciting!

  5. I started a quilt along starting of this year and used red, orange, yellow and gray and really loved it. It was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t know they would go together so well.

  6. The new collection has some very yummy shades of blue, and paisley is definitely one of my favorite motifs! This will be stunning…a beautiful collection in the hands of an artist! Can’t wait to see your creation!

  7. My favourite collection would have to be this new one. I believe the red and gray would be my favourite if it was red and gray as it looks on my computer. Thank you for sharing.

  8. I think grey, navy, black and white/cream are good colours to add to fabrics with lots of different prints like the ones you are showing here. We need areas in quilts where we can rest the eyes otherwise all the prints loose their impact and becomes a rough sea to sail. Grey is the neutral that is the middle value of the neutrals so I like it with pale to medium prints/colours and very dark colours. Pink/ light turquoise/yellow and an above medium shade of grey as well as burgundy/teal and just below medium grey are combinations I like a lot

  9. I think grey goes well with lots of other colors. It can provide a more subtle neutral contrast than white or black. I have a pink and grey print I have been wanting to make a dress out of for years. I can also imagine grey paired with blue or lavender and purple.

  10. My fave is the gray and green. I have p e ony bed made last year. Gray is the new in color. Lots of gray carpet and living rooms and bedrooms. Beautiful combinations : )
