Enchanted Forest in QUILT (August/September 2013)

Hello Friends, it’s lovely to have you visit again!  I am happy to share with you today my “Enchanted Forest” quilt, featured in QUILT’s August/September 2013 issue.

The details to look for are what I like about this design – the focal print blocks, interconnecting “pathway” between the blocks,  secondary design blocks, and the various shades of blues used in the design.  So, all that said – the final quilt was worth the time spent piecing the quilt top.  And you know how I feel about piecing, ha!

This quilt uses fabrics from RJR Fabrics’ Silent Harmony collection.  Click here to view the entire fabric range.  I love the focal prints from the collection so much I marry both the autumn and wintry colorways in the same quilt!

One thing good about mixing the autumn and wintry colorways is that the quilt is useable through the autumn and winter months.

Quilt kits are available for $78.50 (including S/H) from Quilting Connect.  Call 540-334-5146 to inquire.

Quilting was done using Aurifil Mako 50 Cotton thread over Hobbs Tuscany Silk batting.  The quilting motif is a modified version of my embellished swirly vine, discussed here.  I am hoping to have some downtime soon and do a Thread Talk post about this modified embellished swirly vine.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have enjoyed my “Enchanted Forest” quilt.

p.s.  I have also designed for RJR Fabrics a free downloadable quilt pattern using the same Silent Harmony fabrics.  Click here for more information.

  1. Just found your site, it is just wonderful. As I am in Australia where can I purchase apple of my eye quilt pattern as most of these magazines are not available here. My granddaughter would love that quilt Thanks so much for such a great site, you are so clever

  2. Your photos are outstanding. The total setting is wonderfully complimentary to the colors in the quilt! I have loved using the ‘swirly vine’ motif…..it’s so versatile. I’m not sure the RJR link is working (not for me, anyway). Hugs, SSAB

  3. I love your Enchanted Forest, Wendy! Those star blocks feel like windows, like I’m looking out at the wintry evening landscape. Very well done. I’m always looking for good ways to use those big focal print fabrics!
