Donna’s Poinsettia Quilt

Donna of Arizona took my Poinsettia Fiesta Design (featured in The Quilter’s 2010 Holiday issue), and…

… totally ran with it, and came up with her own AWARD-winning Poinsettia quilt!  I just can’t get over how beautiful Donna’s blue poinsettia quilt looks.

Donna’s Blue Poinsettia was juried into the Pacific West show in August.  While it didn’t place, Donna was sent a ribbon with it that said, “finalist.”  Two weekends ago,  the quilt was placed FIRST at the Pecos Valley Quilt Show in Roswell, NM.

Congratulations Donna, and thanks for sharing your beautiful and inspiring quilt with us Ivory Spring-ers!

  1. Her use of fabrics and your pattern reminds me/hints at Edyta Sitar’s use of batiks/applique. Absolutely lovely AND how could one not love BLUE & WHITE!?! Thanks for sharing, Donna…..hugs!

  2. Thank you for all the very kind and gracious comments. I appreciate every one of them. “SusieSioux” asked about the diamonds. They were made using the 2 sizes of diamond rulers and the instructions that came with them. Were I to use them again, I would use a lighter fusible, like “Misty Fuse,” and it would eliminate a lot of stress on the fingers, as I blanket stitched the edges on all the small diamonds.
