Good day, Friends! I am missing my sewing machine right about now. I have been working on some digital designs, and catching up with my needlework projects in the last week or so, but no actual playing with the sewing machine. I cannot quilt by hand to save my life, but I do enjoy being able to quilt with my machine. I will forever be grateful to Diane Gaudynski for bringing home machine quilting due merit and recognition through her exquisite work. Over the last few years, I have attempted in some dense quilting myself, always with Ms. Diane in the background as my inspiration. The following projects feature the dense quilting I have done:

Ivory Spring 
Amazing, Wendy! I know what you mean about missing your sewing machine. I feel that way when it’s time for the machine to go in for maintenance. I like knowing it’s in the house, even if I’m busy with other things.
Question for you: Do you use the BSR function for your machine quilting? Do you like it?
Another question: Is there trapunto in your Ivory Spring quilt, or do those areas just puff up so much because they are surrounded by such dense quilting?

OK, so – I chose Ivory Spring, but I have to say that was a might hard choice!! They’re all amazing.
Well, to be truthful, I was never a big fan of dense quilting because it makes everything so stiff and heavy. Then I saw YOUR work! Guess I have to eat my words!! Just lovely – thanks for sharing!!

Love them all, as usual!-) “Pieceful Garden” and “Cascade of Leaves” are may top faves. When I purchased my Bernina 440QE I thought the BSR was going to be my “go to” method of FMQ. Now (having purchased my Juki 2010TL) I have not even set up that machine lately and use the Juki for piecing (fabulous, accurate 1/4″) and FMQ (found that the BSR was actually limiting my FMQ ability-I felt I was having to quilt according to the machine rather than me having full control of it). Anyhow, a big ‘shout out’ to you, Wendy, for dispelling the myth that machine quilting, at the highest level/quality, must be accomplished on a longarm rather than a domestic machine. All of your work is gorgeous Wendy – I just can’t pick a favourite . I am also grateful to Diane Gaudynski – I did her tutorial for the 2012 FMQ Challenge and my quilting has been elevated to another level.

Yes, I have a favorite….that one…..that one….and that one….and, oh, that one….and finally….that other breathtaking beauty!
I have to say that they are all quite beautiful and as you probably know, it is very difficult to choose a favorite. They are so STUNNINGLY beautiful! I have had one lesson on the longarm machine and look forward to sharing that journey. Meanwhile I will read your blog and see what you’ve got to say!
