Autumn Hues in House of White Birches’ LOG CABINS TODAY

I am showing you my second of four quilts featured in the Log Cabins Today book. Red + Yellow + Green + Orange = Autumn Hues is the premise of this quilt.

The use of mostly light-hearted fabrics give the quilt an updated look, especially by introducing polka dots into the mix! For some reason, polka dots are like the life of a “fabric party” – they always lighten up the mood.

Here are a few quilting shots:

The quilting motif on the blocks is actually an applique motif used as a quilting motif. You can read about how I “mark without marking” the quilting motif here.

Fabrics are a mixture of Summer Solstice, Everything but the Kitchen Sink, Crazy for Dots and Stripes, Pindots, Jinny Beyer Palette (all by RJR) and some scraps thrown into the mix. Quilting thread is Aurifil Mako 50 Cotton, and batting is Hobbs Tuscany Silk.

“Log Cabins Today” has a total of 32 projects, and is available from Clotilde in print and electronic versions. Are you tempted yet? :)

  3. My favorite overall is Autumn Hues. Love the colors & pattern. That being said, I really liked the colors in this one too and liked the quilting on it best of all. I’m no help, am I?
