Blue & Brown Mix & Match

tablescape thursday

Inspired by my blue and brown quilt, I set out to play with my blue and brown dishes all together at one time.

I am usually a dish collection kind of gal when it comes to dishes, but I have to say that experimenting with mixing the colors together was very fun! The following are some of the combinations I tried:

#1 (you can tell I was a bit reserved in the beginning!)

#4 (then ever so slowly, I started to loosen up):

#5 (I started to be a bit more adventurous):

#6 (By now, dishes were starting to pile up on the floor, waiting to be auditioned):

#7 (I am bringing in more blues):

#8 (now comes the desserts):

Now, how about retreating to the drawing room to take some tea with me?

What do you think, my bloggy friends – should I, or should I not use my blues with my browns this year for Thanksgiving?

  1. The blue and brown are very attractive together, dishes or fabric either way. OH I know you could make some napkins to match, place mats? Sorry more work for you. It would look nice though.

  2. It would be a shame not to use them together when you have that gorgeous quilt begging for them! My favorite is #4. Now how long did it take you to clean up after the “audition”? :)

  3. I love the blue and brown. But I love when things are used in unexpected ways. I also love all your Spode. Wow, it looks like a great collection. Blue Italian and Woodland are two of my favorites, but I have very few pieces of either of them.

  4. I LOVE your dishes! The browns and blues are so pretty together. They are even great with your other pieces…Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. Oh I love the blue with the brown. It is so unexpected and so beautiful. Your table is gorgeous and all of the arrangements you displayed are lovely. Hugs, Marty
