I noticed from my current quilt project I have had a tendency to make my sashing slim in some of the quilts I have designed/made this year. The sashing pieces you see in the pictures below are 1/2″ wide.

Since I am still fairly new in this quilting adventure, I oftentimes make a point to try out something new in my projects. I find that I quite like my 1/2″ wide skinny mini sashing. If I have the opportunity, I might even try doing 1/4″ wide sashing in the future just to see if I like it…
What is something new you have tried lately, and find yourself keep doing it?

Skinny Mini….I like that name, it is catchy!
I too like the mini sashing. I’ve pretty much stopped making bed-sized quilts and seems the bed/table runners and/or wall hangings are more condusive to the narrower sashing. Like your scrabble piece. Where did you come up with the scrabble letters? I’ve been on the lookout for lettering on fabric.
I like the small sashings myself…looks wonderful
I like your skinny sashing! More than that, I love all the info you so generously share about quilting on a domestic machine. You are such an inspiration! Thank you!
I like skinny sashing, too! I’ve got a really fun bed quilt project that’s using 1/4″. Quite challenging to sew in perfectly, but I think it looks remarkable.
The skinny sashing does look soooo nice. I love that Scrabble quilt.
Is it harder to keep the skinnier sashing straight, or does the width matter? Is there a tool you use to keep the lines straight, or are you just naturally good at it?
I’d be afraid my lines would be wobbly.
It all looks great to me…
Oh, boy, love the Scrabble quilt! And sashings… yes, I like them skinny, too. Or really, really fat, when what I am trying to do is create a secondary pattern…
I love these scrabble pawns:)
LOVE the scrabble quilt!
