You know I love anything that is heirloom. The heirloom theme carried over to how we go about with gifts for Miss Baby this Christmas. We bought an heirloom carousel music box for Miss Baby for her “something she can keep” gift this past Christmas:

It plays a sweet little tune that reflects the beauty of a simple and innocent childhood:

The details on this pieces are unbelievable. Besides the bear, there are a snail, a mouse, a hedgehog, a bird, a turtle, and a bunny — all squeezed into this sweet 3″ tall package!

This music box is another piece that goes with Miss Baby’s heirloom pewter picture frames:
So, curious mind to know if you have any heirloom gifts you cherish from your childhood. I need ideas for future heirloom gifts.

That is so sweet!! I don’t have any of what you would call heirloom gifts from childhood. I just have my thumblina baby doll that I never ever could part with, along with her carry case and homemade clothes and blanket. The carry case has a little lamb on the front and did not come with the doll. I still love her to this day and I am 48!!!
That is lovely Wendy – what a beautiful idea for heirloom gifts. No, I don’t think I have anything from my childhood other than one bracelet – most of my gifts were books! And there were never enough, lol. I’d have them all read by New Year’s.
Pearl earrings with a matching brooch from my grandfather, and heirloom and a doll made by my sister during her recuperation from tuberculosis when I was five, a memento; all dearly treasured.
Beautiful heirloom for Miss Baby.
Happy New Year!
Those are darling! I don’t have any heirlooms from my childhood, but I do have my mom’s mother’s ring with birthstones from each of her children.
I’ve started giving Christmas decorations…. they can also be used to decorate the house…not necessarily for the tree
Happy crafting, Jenny
When I was a girl, my great aunt gave me sterling silver for every gift-giving occasion – one piece at a time. By the time I was in high school, I was asking for silver from others, as well (I got a carving set for high school graduation). When I got married, I already had service for 8. I continued this tradition with my own nieces.
The only downside to this, is that the recipient does not get to pick out their own silver pattern. When I gave my nieces silver, I gave them the same pattern I have, and told them that I would replace their silver with a different pattern if they wanted something else when they got married (neither took me up on that offer).
Love that music box it is gorgeous and she will cherish it forever. You ask if we have anything Heirloom LOL most everything I have is heirloom because I am old. I do however have a little china teapot that I used to play tea party with when I was about 5 I also have a Christmas card I made for my Grandmother that I signed, and I have my First Communion dress that my grandmother made for me. Have a Happy New Year. Hugs Bunny
Love the details on the box Wendy. Can’t help you with heirlooms. I really don’t have anything from my childhood. We were too poor to have or receive heirlooms. My children got some pewter and silver gifts as babies that I’ll send along with them. Hope you have a good week.
